Liposuction
Liposuction is a method used to shape the body profile by removing excess fat from specific areas such as: the hips, abdomen, trochanteric region, knees, chin, etc. Liposuction, also known as liposculpture or liposuction, after over 25 years of regular practice and therefore ever-increasing refinement of the technique, is now more correctly called lipoplasty. There are numerous techniques with which the method can be carried out: from mechanical lipoplasty with the tumescent technique or with the super-wet technique or, again, with the technique using ultrasound.
Risks
Lipoplasty is a safe surgical procedure when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon. I would like to underline again that liposuction is first and foremost a surgical procedure and cannot be treated instead as often happens in Italy as a cosmetic procedure by a hairdresser or beautician. The method must be performed in a protected environment (operating room) and not in the back of a shop and the patient must be monitored (to check the vital parameters at all times). The risks of possible complications, such as infection for example, can increase if the areas to be treated are numerous and if the quantity of liquid aspirated exceeds 5 litres.

The time required to perform liposuction obviously varies depending on the amount of fat to be removed, the number of areas to be treated, and the technique chosen by the surgeon. In any case, the procedure involves infiltration of the area to be aspirated and the insertion through a tiny incision of a small cannula connected to a device that produces vacuum. This cannula, with a mechanical action, breaks the adipose tissue and sucks it through holes on its tip.
The new look
The patient will immediately notice the different body profile, even if it will take at least 3 months to see a result close to the definitive one, because the edema (swelling) of the tissues tends to persist for a long time after the insult suffered. If expectations are realistic, the result will always be satisfactory and with a good diet and regular exercise, the new body profile can be kept stable over time.
